Great Family Living in the Coachella Valley

The Cimarron Cove real estate development, located in Cathedral City, is surrounded by desert beauty and the rugged grandeur of the Coachella Valley mountains. The valley provides a picturesque backdrop for today’s family-oriented lifestyle. While the area is known around the globe for its enviable climate, legendary resorts and celebrated golf and tennis facilities, there’s a world of day-to-day living enjoyment just waiting to be discovered.

Fun in the Sun

With the Coachella Valley’s perennially sunny skies and so many popular destinations to choose from, year-round recreation is a way of life. From the sedate to the adventurous, there’s something for everyone, ranging from guided nature hikes and riding mountain bikes to sailing aloft in a hot air balloon. The Coachella Valley Hiking Club is the area’s premier hiking group, offering 300 hikes a year throughout the greater Palm Springs area. For those who like to hike at a loftier level or merely take in the view, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway climbs up to spectacular Mt. San Jacinto State Park, a wilderness area with 54 miles of hiking trails. Other nearby spots known for their natural beauty include the 17,000-acre Coachella Valley Preserve, with six palm forests and three desert dune fields; the Living Desert, where visitors can observe several wildlife species in a natural setting; and Joshua Tree National Park.

So Many Places To Play

The Coachella Valley Recreation and Park District is dedicated to “creating community through people, parks and programs.” Not only does CVRPD operate public facilities like community centers, gymnasiums, health and fitness centers, swimming pools and ball fields, but it also offers adult and children’s sports leagues, child care and after-school programs, plus all sorts of classes for kids. Also in the area are two skate parks, the Oasis Waterpark, several Boys and Girls Clubs, a YMCA and numerous golf courses and country clubs.

Around Town

The Coachella Valley offers so much to see and do that every weekend is a new experience, the perfect opportunity to get out with the family and explore. Special events are scheduled throughout the year, such as the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, the Coachella Independent Film Festival, the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival, and many major sporting events. Numerous museums, art galleries and restaurants dot the landscape; and there’s plenty of shopping at every price level, including Desert Hills Premium Outlets in nearby Cabazon.

An Emphasis on Education

“Together We Build the Future.” That’s the motto for the Coachella Valley Unified School District, and it’s a phrase that district teachers and administrators take very seriously. The district and its communities are committed to meeting the challenges of a rapidly growing student population, and the students have demonstrated increasing improvement in state-wide assessments. Home of the 2002 National Teacher of the Year and recipient of a Reading First grant awarded by the state of California to assist kindergarten through third grade classrooms, this is a district “that promotes education, pride and progress.” Many local students go on to Coachella Valley’s two-year College of the Desert, which offers certificate and associate degree programs in a wide range of subjects.
